As my hotel is close to the war cemetry, I decided to go there next. Kanchanaburi used to bea prisonor of war camp and a lot of people died while constructing the Thai-Burma railway, even more Burmees than POW if I'm not mistaking. Also know now why the Japanese were so cruel. They prefered hara kiri above being captured so they didn't see their prisonors as human beings but as infirior life form. The cemetrywas impressive, specialy under the British casualies there were a lot minus 30 while the Dutch were a bit older. After that I visit the museum about the construction of the railway...
In the afternoon I went to the Tiger Temple. Still don't know what to think about it as it's so comercialised. 500 bath to get in, if you want a special pic with eg tiger head on your lap, 1000 bath. Pic of you feeting the cups, 1000 bath. Normal pictures are for free. Funny, they take you by the hand put you behind a lion and take a couple of pics and this at several lions, so that's great. Also have a pic of me and a 7 months old tiger and me while a monk is feeding by bottle a grown up one. So it was worth it but I still wonder how they keep them that calm. Can't imagine my cats allowing foreigners to pet them....
